What happened.... |
|
Jan 4th 2012 |
The beginning. I had been fiddling around with various ways of recording content off screen as it was happening. For doing this I used a variety of software some more stable than others. It took me three days to find a software that was capable of doing what I needed in a way that didn’t look awkward due to low processing power on my PC and the high processing power needed to run the applications all at once. I even tried recording the sound separately to the video. I had to drop the screen resolution of my computer to 1280X720*** because that would deliver semi HD quality in a way that my computer could handle. |

First commentary posted. Very limited feedback and exposure still trying fix technical issues. Made a .PNG that goes over the top of the replay function in games in the edit, basically the same as logo. |

Sorted out the record quality so it could comfortably be encoded into a F4v at 720P also made a new .PNG file to cover the replay options to give a nice and shiny feel to the videos. |
|
Jan 26th |
Made a 'Splash' to go on the front of all the productions as a signature.
This format carries on for a very long time indeed. |
|
Febuary |
I became a part of a community that specializes in video production of video games, made a lot more content and started working on the website for the project, graphics etc etc. Also obtained a press pass for the I45 festival gaming festival in May. |
|
Mar 22nd |
Complete overhaul on all systems that are not related to game, IE new splash and new cap that covers the replay panel. Also beginning to look into streaming as a viable option for producing content. |
|
April |
More content made throughout the month improving my skills of presenting and commentating. Also launched 'The week in esports' complete with its own theme music and graphics it served as a weekly news bulletin for Competitive gaming.
Youtube allow me to gain revenue from advertisements placed on my videos, embedded or not so I could actually start gaining money from casting, and that very nice. |

May 4th - 7th |
I series (AKA i45) we spent the entire 3 days trying to get interviews, getting sneak peaks of up and coming products and trying to report on them. Many interviews were held and this was the first time that we made and content that wasn’t just video game commentary and indeed the first time in front of camera representing Archon Esports. We interviewed and talked to many people who are very influential in the industry and got many useful tips and advice from them. |

May 28th |
I make the last week in Esports for the foreseeable future, the reason for stopping is the format is not consistent with many well known news formats and may have been fairly boring to listen to and watch, as I only want to make the best content I can for this project it is something that I will be restarting in the future as a to camera piece on a weekly basis. |

June |
Website is launched in 'version 1.0' with very rudimentary features. Talked to GameVue about possible partnerships in upcoming events and the agree to let us upload content to their site containing our name therefore drawing in audience to theirs site and ours. |
|
June 6th |
Gain a press pass to the WCS ESL UK Starcraft 2 tournament. In July. |
|
July |
We go to the ESL in London and spend the day interviewing and meeting various players teams and commentators as well we interview Tastosis , a commentating duo with gaming commentating as their full time job resulting in the biggest upsurge of views the channel has ever seen
We trial some ideas for streaming and buy a license for a streaming programme named Xsplit, unfortunately we do not have a computer currently that is able to stream effectively due to the process of encoding and then sending the encoded file out to the internet. So streaming is very much put on hold for the while.
We gain BETA keys because of our various trips around people have been giving them to us, this allows us to try some games and the make video content and report on what they are like, like our SMITE coverage whilst it is in Beta. However some of the games that we have early accesses too have NDA's attached so they are really good for having a look but not making content with. |
|
August |
We begin doing a very casual commentating show named 'tomfoolery in...' this helps us appeal to a broader audience who don't just want to see competitive gaming all the time.
The relaunch of the week in eSports should also be happening this month... |
