MLG (Major League Gaming) is the largest supplier of pro gaming streams and tournaments. They have the accolades of beating many major television channels in viewing figures, MTV, Comedy Central, FX. With 3+ hours of viewing from 241,000 unique viewers over the course of a day it is safe to say this giant is currently the ultimate in eSports entertainment. MLG are the cutting edge of what can be done in the eSports world, they are thinking about launching Television channels on cable (just like the 2 that are currently active in Korea) and they have various over the screen effects they use to illustrate the commentators point just like the American NFL league commentators. Another thing that MLG have on their side is money with this money they can afford to hire the world's best commentators and analysts for the games, and this makes them a hive for exposure and means the likes of many professional gaming teams would like to play games at their events. Also the amount of prize money the reward to any given winner is mind boggling with $50,000 and more at stake. Also MLG are so large they can actually afford to pay for their competitors to get to the event and pay for all travel expenses and staying etc. They also give their viewers an option to pay for the best stages, so, if you want to see the finally of a particular tournament you have to buy a pass to be able to stream it. I am influenced by MLG is their service for providing tournaments and footage of Pro gaming is unparalleled. It would be great to be able to set up events with such calibre and would draw attention to just about anything else I would try to do with this project. Of course the scale of MLG is much bigger than I am capable of achieving without a significant amount of money and manpower but none the less they provide a great inspiration. |  |
