Screw Attack Research
Screw Attack is an American gaming website mostly focusing on the news and dabbling in retro gaming. They hire in outside talent, to fill their quota of video content that they set every day, they are one of the only sites I have looked at that do not have a stream to speak of the do occasionally have a show named 'out of the box' witch is a live unboxing and playing of a game that has either not come out yet or has just come out. They rely very heavily on comedic videos to keep and audience satisfied with even their news segments straying into a more comedic angle as with the industry it is very light hearted. Just like many gaming websites Screw Attack seem to focus very much on selling themselves as well as selling their content, many of the Screw Attack 'Crew' over the years have been included in varying degrees of their video content from video skits to news articles. It is important to note that Screw Attack are not particularly a eSports website but they have a great community building system and that cannot be ignored. They give their users with the most 'points' for uploading outside content prizes occasionally. The site has been evolving over 6 years or so starting out as a web page with some videos on it is now a hub for news and reviews for the gaming world everywhere. They have recently launched a 'Advanced' feature that allows its users to help the site for a cost, just as Screwattack has always done they have done this in a very upfront manner telling the user where exactly their money is going and rewarding them with certain privileges on the site such as avoiding adverts and higher quality video and audio. Screw Attack relates to my project as it has a very set objective to build community and followers. It does this by being accessible as it can be and lets its community even help it grow. Their social network is actually smaller than other sites but the outside content they host makes sure a wide audience is attracted to them. I hope to make content as attractive as Screw Attack's in order to help draw in a large audience. | ![]() |
